Can Acupuncture Help With Eczema?
Yes is the short answer!
I am currently treating a 50-year-old female patient who had been suffering from eczema for 18 months. She had tried various different treatments, none of which had completely worked before seeing me: she still had days when eczema looked quite inflamed. She was at her wit’s end; it was really bringing her down emotionally, she was feeling depressed.
Over the 18 months, it had moved from her neck and eyes to her hands and forearms. She had been working hard at hiding it from people. Even the doctor’s treatment hadn’t worked completely it just masked her symptoms. She wanted to be rid of it permanently.
Each acupuncture session was treated individually, as different aspects and things to work on had shifted and moved. It was interesting to watch and observe, her friends and family noticed the amazing difference the treatment was having on her. She was less emotional and stressed, her skin cleared up steadily.
I explained that with skin issues, it can take longer to heal because the cause is usually a combination of several factors: allergies, stress, hormonal body imbalances, heat to name a few. With the way that I work with all the different techniques with acupuncture, I treat all factors to resolve the problem. Which is why each treatment can be different as the different aspects came up. Incredibly the eczema was almost gone in just a few weeks.
I had used a variety of techniques to help with the transformation. She reported that she was sleeping better and that a number of people had commented on how much younger and how healthy she now looked. She had indeed made a difference, and said that she felt healthier and more alive than she had done in years.
Acupuncture for eczema works via nerve pain and itch modulation, though it offers positive effects all over the body. Decreasing stress and improving your sense of well-being. Acupuncture for eczema is also a very safe alternative treatment.
